‘What is there in the universe,
is in the Body.’
The play of darkness and light is eternal. Aandhar has no mention in the mutual enjoyments of the five elements in the universe but is important, and is of feeling and luxury. Aandhar has ‘Adyakamashakti’. It enjoys all the sounds and touches and the forms and the hues and odours of this world. This enjoyment cancels tiredness and brings spirit back. But for this power of Aandhar this world could be a desert. Aandhar can swallow all the other elements. So Aandhar has a place in all the elemental realms.
But the enjoyment of luxury is limited, so transient, so ever unsatisfied. The Aandhar jatakas are mainly sensual and ambitious for all material luxury. They may be immoral for gaining material pleasure.
But they are the so called heroes and achievers. People of power and position are frequently Aandhar jatakas.
The days of zamindary are no more but the vacancy is filled up by an other class who are mad for material gain and unethical or immoral at the slightest temptation. But Aandhar doesn’t mean all these bad things only. There are some in them who are sources of light and goodness in this world of darkness.
Some of our prime ministers and ministers were Aandhar jatakas.
